Surprisingly, termites are very important insects to the environtment. They eat dead trees and return vital nutrients to the soil. Termite treatments used in the past created a barrier keeping the termites from entering your home; however, these treatments did not kill termite colonies, but deterred them from entering the treated structure. This would redirect the colony to search for food in other places, such as your detached garage or your neighbors home. If your home was not treated properly, the termites could infest your house through a .25 inch gap in the chemical treatment.
At Absolute Pest Control Services we use a product called Termidor for termite control. It is by far the best termiticide on the market and is the only termiticide that we'll put our name behind for post construction treatments. It is an odorless, non-repellant chemical which means that the termites will not see it. Thus, they travel through the treatment and use the transfer to affect and eliminate the colony.
